I grew up moving around the United States - in Puerto Rico, Texas, Virginia, Michigan, New York, Washington D.C., & Oregon, which first-hand showed my the immense value & importance diverse perspectives provide 🌎. During this time, the only way I could keep in touch with friends was through technology & the internet, which spark my initial curiosity for compter science .
During my undergraduate & master's, I spent over 4 years conducting Computing Education Research under Dr. Jennifer Parham-Mocello. We investigated innovative practices to make CS more accessible & engaging through game-oriented curriculum, along with how to most effectively support & empower K-12 CS teachers without a background in CS. This netted4 double-blind peer-reviewed publications & 2 theses.
In my free time, I love travelling & experience new things! I'm extremely fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest & take the opportunity to immerse myself in nature whenever I can. A life-goal of mine is to visit all 7 continents ✈️ & all 50 states. Recently, I've been enjoying cooking, playing soccer, hosting board game nights with friends, & hiking 🌲.
